Tricia Zimic is a visionary illustrator whose career spans over four decades, known for her striking contributions to both mainstream and cult visual culture. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, Zimic studied under legendary illustrators Maurice Sendak and Murray Tinkelman, developing a powerful narrative style that blends fine draftsmanship with emotional depth and a touch of the surreal.
In the 1980s, Zimic left her mark on two radically different corners of illustration: designing gothic, atmospheric covers for the Nancy Drew Files series and painting wildly imaginative poster art for Troma Entertainment’s cult classic films, including Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator, Star Worms II, and Deadly Daphne’s Revenge. These original oil paintings—often created before the films were even completed—have become iconic emblems of the era’s underground VHS and horror scenes.
Her illustration clients include Simon & Schuster, Tor/Macmillan, Viking Penguin, Scholastic, Berkley Books, Avon, Dutton, Disney Films, and more. Whether working in children’s publishing or underground cinema, Zimic’s work is united by its theatrical composition, lush palette, and a playful sense of humor that runs through it all.
In addition to her illustration work, Tricia has received many awards for her fine art throughout the tri-state region. You can view her fine art work at www.triciazimic.com.
